The University of Baguio School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (UB-SIHTM) has officially sent off its second batch of students for their international on-the-job training program at the renowned Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.
The program was formally launched in 2024 shortly after the university officially established a partnership with the hotel branch. This program is designed to provide aspiring hospitality and tourism professionals with the chance to gain world-class experience, enhance their global competence, and represent the university on the international stage.

On April 25, 2025, the students went in for an orientation session at the Philippine Consulate Office in Hong Kong, led by current Vice Consul and Head of Visa and Assistance to National Sections, Atty. George Mariano Soriano. He extended a warm welcome to the UB officials, faculty, and students, offering insightful guidance on local customs and best practices in Hong Kong and recommending places of interest for them to explore during their stay.

Following the consulate orientation, the group proceeded to the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong under the guidance of the Dean, Ms. Jenelyn Magpatoc, Linkages Office Director, Ms. Melanie Rulla Saro, Program Chair, Ms. Kresdale Pacalso, and Foreign Language Instructor, Ms. Joan Florague. There, they proceeded to sit down for their hotel orientation and uniform fitting with the hotel’s Learning and Development Manager, Mr. Kenneth Sy.
The students will officially commence with their six-month internship on April 28, 2025, during which they will acquire practical experience in various hotel operations, which will prepare them for successful careers in the hospitality and tourism industry. This collaboration embodies UB’s dedication to cultivating prospective hospitality leaders through international experience and hands-on training.
